A Family Centered Chiropractic Office
Dr. Tara Essington is originally from Loomis, NE. She attended Iowa State University where she graduated with a BS in Kinesiology. After graduation she moved to St. Louis to start at Logan University and complete the Doctor of Chiropractic program. This is where she met her husband and business partner, Dr. Matt.
While in St. Louis Dr. Tara found that she loved working with the pediatric and pregnant population. She decided to get an extra certification with the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA). This program allowed her to take extra classes and learn a variety of techniques to help this special population. With the additional training Dr. Tara saw the life changing affects chiropractic can have on children. Everything from colic to latching problems to bed-wetting type symptoms were decreased after the child was under chiropractic care. In addition to her pediatric certification Dr. Tara’s was able to work in a pediatric rotation while at chiropractic school. This allowed her to work with many children and see the great affect that chiropractic can have on them.
She is also certified in Webster technique, which is a specific chiropractic analysis and diversified adjustment. The goal of the adjustment is to reduce the effects of sacral subluxation and SI joint dysfunction. In so doing neuro-biomechanical function in the pelvis is improved. The chiropractic adjustment to the pelvis releases tension so that the baby can move freely and assume the best possible position.
Dr. Matthew Essington comes from a family of Chiropractors. His parents met at Logan University, in St. Louis, the same chiropractic college that Dr. Matt met his wife at 25 years later. Prior to opening 608 Chiropractic, he had the privilege of working in several different offices, including both small businesses and large clinic settings. These experiences gave him the opportunity to learn how to communicate with his patients, and how to efficiently deliver the individualized health care his patients deserve.
At Logan University Dr. Matt received extensive training in rehabilitation, nutrition and athletic care, and pediatrics. He also has first-hand experience on how regular chiropractic care has helped patients recover as quickly as the body could; while maintaining optimal health. Dr. Matt has spent his time in school learning many different techniques of chiropractic but honing his skills in the Gonstead style of adjusting. This style of adjusting trains the doctor to provide neurologically-based chiropractic care, find the root cause of the patient’s discomfort, and provide a specific adjustment. It is a systematic approach to creating balance within the body.
Growing up, Dr. Matt was a multisport athlete, and the chiropractic care he received, kept him healthy on and off the field. He is excited to be able to share his passion for sports and his passion for health with the families of the West Omaha and surrounding areas through 608 Chiropractic.
